#ThankfullyReading Weekend Thus Far

The Thanksgiving weekend tradition continues with Jenn’s Bookshelves’ #ThankfullyReading Weekend! I have to admit, it hasn’t been a very bookish weekend over here, but we’re headed in the right direction.

The festivities of the readathon started on Wednesday evening, and I was coming down from too much essay grading. My online sections turned in their next-to-last work this week, and I was still drowning at that point.

Thursday, Thanksgiving proper, my husband and I hosted my mom since kiddo was at his dad’s for the holiday. We ate a veritable feast, and the resulting food coma took over. I spent the evening crocheting granny squares, Christmas ornaments for my Etsy shop, and I read a little toward bedtime.

Yesterday, though, the reading vibes really kicked in. I managed to polish off The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Volume 1: The Crucible which I started back during Dewey’s in October and never got around to finishing. I finished off the volume, and immediately read the available single issues from Comixology Unlimited, and I am itching for more.

I might read more comics, but I definitely need to finish Dreams and Nightmares: I Fled Alone to the United States When I was Fourteen by Liliana Velasquez. It’s for a class I teach, and we’re headed into a unit on community writing, so this one is the perfect thing. It’s a quick read, written with half the book in Spanish and half in English.

Finally, I’m going to try to squeeze in a few more stories from Samantha Hunt’s The Dark Dark. The story I left unfinished the last time I picked it up is really calling to me. I’ll report back.

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend, Andi!

Thank you, Lindsey! I haven’t gotten to read much more of The Dark Dark since this post, but it’s waiting patiently for me! I’m such a fickle reader. lol
