Be sure to check out Tamara, Tanya Patrice, and Kim, my fearless co-hosts, as well as the other folks taking part in #AMonthofFaves.  Honestly, I wasn’t totally sure which direction to take today’s prompt. My reading is SO free range lately, it’s hard to think about reading in terms of plans, so what better way than a mish-mash?  Fun Seasonal Books I’ve Read (or Used) and Can Recommend:  I recently picked up Johanna Christmas: A Festive Coloring Book for myself because I was feeling those Christmas…

Routines, Habits, Changes! Oh my! #AMonthofFaves

#AMonthofFaves Routines, Habits and Changes. What Worked this Year and/or What Didn’t. What habits, routines or rituals worked for you this year – either something you kept doing – or something new that you started. What did you try that didn’t work … or what did you used to do that no longer works for you.  Thank you, Kim, Tanya Patrice, and Tamara for being amazing co-hosts! Whew! It’s been a year. A year of changes, shifts, figuring things out. I don’t even know where to start. My work changes semesterly and quarterly, but I’ve been, and will remain, on a similar schedule throughout this academic year (for the most…

Two Books Worth the Hype, and One that Can Wait #AMonthofFaves

Welcome back to the second day of #AMonthofFaves! Today Tamara, Kim, Tanya Patrice, and myself will be taking a look at books worth (and not worth) the hype from 2018! Admittedly, at first I thought, “Really? Y’all are looking at me to have read ANY hyped books from 2018?” but when I gave my Goodreads list a once-over, I actually did read a few newer books among ALL the backlist. Let’s waste no time… The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory is a romance novel with some pretty good hype behind it from early in the year. I didn’t get around to it until summer, but this audiobook was absolutely delightful.…

Book Juggling: Or Reading Little Bits of This and That for Eternity

Per usual, I am reading multiple books for a gazillion years each. This doesn’t really bother me as much as it did in years past. I used to be strictly a one-book-at-a-time reader, there was a goal to reach, and I was going to get there come hell or high water. Maybe I’ve mellowed? Maybe it’s a side effect of having SO many hobbies. I’m much more chill about my reading these days. These are the books it’s going to take me (potentially) forever to get through because I’m a dip-in-and-outer. You Are Free: Be Who You Already Are by Rebekah Lyons – I’d say I’ve spent a significant amount…

    #ThankfullyReading Weekend Thus Far

The Thanksgiving weekend tradition continues with Jenn’s Bookshelves’ #ThankfullyReading Weekend! I have to admit, it hasn’t been a very bookish weekend over here, but we’re headed in the right direction. The festivities of the readathon started on Wednesday evening, and I was coming down from too much essay grading. My online sections turned in their next-to-last work this week, and I was still drowning at that point. Thursday, Thanksgiving proper, my husband and I hosted my mom since kiddo was at his dad’s for the holiday. We ate a veritable feast, and the resulting food coma took over. I spent the evening crocheting granny squares, Christmas ornaments for my Etsy…
