#AMonthofFaves On the Screen – What did you watch this year that you absolutely loved and did you see any movies inspired by books you’ve read – what did you think.Visit my cohorts in crime, Tanya, Kim, and Tamara!
I’m not a movie person. That is, I used to be a huuuuuge movie person. I even studied film in college and grad school, but these days, I have so many interests, unless I’m going to the movies it’s hard for me to sit down and watch something new. I’d rather have something old and well-loved running in the background that I can half pay attention to, if I’m being completely honest.
Here’s what I’ve had on repeat lately:
The Devil Wears Prada – Ahhh, Meryl Streep as an ice queen, Anne Hathaway as an ingénue, Stanley Tucci as….amazing. The glitzy clothes, the silly jokes, the tirade about the cerulean sweater. I love it all.
The Muppet Christmas Carol – All. Time. Favorite. Not THE all-time favorite, but this one is definitely a fave since grade school. Did you know they cut out the “Love is Gone” song? Apparently when this one moved from VHS to DVD and streaming, they cut it out! I hated that song, so I’m totally fine with it.

Austenland – Exception to the rule! This is not an old favorite yet, since I just watched it for the first time a week or two ago. I had it running on Vudu while I graded final essays, and I LOVED IT. I held out because I had every intention of reading the book first, but that never happened, so I went on and fell in love with this silly-cute movie.
Most assuredly, Greyson, David, and I will see a movie over the Christmas break. Right now G. is leaning toward Into the Spider-Verse or the new Grinch movie. I have my fingers crossed for the Grinch!
We can’t wait to find out what you’ve been watching!

Oh…Andi. 🙂 You really, really need to see some movies, especially from this past year. So many to love. The two I highly recommend: Black Klansman and Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Must sees.
Andi
LOL, thank you, Bryan! I definitely want to see both of these.

Somehow I’ve never seen Austenland!
The new Grinch movie was such fun! We watched it as a family and all of us enjoyed it. But I must say that the Spiderverse movie looks amazing!
Andi
Ahhh! It’s totally worth a watch. It’s so much fun, silly, but great little Austen references for the fans. We went to see the Grinch together last week, and we all liked it. Spiderverse is on the menu for this week!

Oooh, I loved The Devil Wears Prada and have it in my queue for a second viewing. I’m also anxious to see the new Spiderman movie! We’ve been watching a lot of House (second time around) and recently watched Hamlet with David Tennent. We also watched Ellen Degeneres Relatable, which was very funny.
Andi
You have so much great viewing going on, Les! Spiderverse looks amazing, and I feel certain Greyson and I will go see it this week. I love me some House! I have all the seasons on DVD from my younger days when I was a wild fan. Good stuff!

Austenland the movie is so much better than the book! Yes so many great movies this year. Crazy Rich Asians and Sorry to Bother You and Game Night! Good ones.
Andi
I’m glad to know that because I never could manage to get through the book. I’ll just stick with the movie! I definitely want to see Crazy Rich Asians. Sadly, it was another book I didn’t manage to finish, but the film looks amazing.

I couldn’t stand Crazy Rich Asians the book either but the movie was sooooo good! I highly recommend it!
Andi
That is so good to know! So many people have raved about the book, but I just couldn’t do it.

“Why watch something new when I can watch something I have seen at least a hundred times before?” is actually one of my life mottos, so I relate to this on a fundamental level.
Andi
Hahahaha! Yes, yes, yes! And I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way!
Natashajk
Okay, now I want to check out Austenland. Ahhhh…
Andi
LOL! Happy to enable!
